Hive - interactive voting software

Hive is an interactive voting system, which is part of our suite of risk management[1] software.

Hive is designed to be used in risk workshops, where members of an organisation are encouraged by a facilitator to indentify the risks that the organisation faces, and score them based on how severe they are if unmitigated, and how bad they are with current controls in place.

Hive adds dynamism to risk workshops by speeding up the entry and assessment of risks. Using a laptop, a projector and some hand-held computers, Hive streamlines the risk workshop process and makes it fun as well!

Quick Input

Hive allows you to create risks on the fly, with quick entry and spell checking throughout.

Never again will you have to type up risks you have brainstormed after the event. Once entered you can see all the risks on the projector screen.

Dynamic Voting

Once the risks are entered, you can start voting on the parts you want by double clicking on them. Entering votes is done by the experts -- the people in attendance. All it takes is a couple of taps on the screen of a hand-held. A graph can be updated as the votes come in, or it can be hidden to keep the votes anonymous until everyone has finished.

Are the votes too spread out? If the votes give rise to a discussion and people want to change their minds, then all it takes is another tap to change the vote. What could be simpler or quicker?

Useful Visualisations

Throughout Hive we have made it easy to see at a glance how severe your risks are:

  • In the risk register, the risks are colour coded, and sortable.
  • Open a component of a risk to see the spread of votes and allow new voting.
  • See before, after and change matrix views. These show you the severity of the risks without taking into account any control, the severity of the risks with the controls in place, and the difference that the controls have made to your risks.

Your data, how you want it

Your audit doesn't end with the risk workshop, so you will need to use the data you've collected. Hive can export to CSV files, for use within spreadsheets, and our simple XML file format can be used with our other products, RiskMon and RecTrack.

Flexible

Risk based audits are not one size fits all. That's why we've made Hive so flexible. Perhaps you use different terminology, rate risks on a different scale, or are more interested in the median vote than the mean. With Hive you can configure almost everything.

Perhaps you want to use Hive for something that we've never even considered. Good! We would be happy to "Qustomise" Hive to your requirements.

Risk Management is a process that is used in internal audits. An organisation is made to assess the impact and likelihood of the risks that it faces, in order to ensure that it has appropriate mechanisms in place to guard against them.
